Diversity Commitment

We serve the needs and expectations of clients from around the globe, who gain from the varied perspectives, creativity, innovation and energy created by Zelle Hofmann’s diverse and inclusive workforce. The firm is committed to maintaining an environment in which lawyers and staff are valued for their personal backgrounds, characteristics, and thinking and working styles. Attracting top-quality talent is crucial to our success, and we seek to hire and retain skilled individuals who meet these diversity goals.

Our commitment to diversity starts at the top, with the Executive Committee. It is implemented through a Diversity Committee, which is charged with implementing our diversity initiatives and goals in recruiting, hiring and retention, including goals and initiatives relating to quality of work life.

We are committed to nurturing an atmosphere of trust and openness that promotes inclusiveness, as well as encouraging arrangements that enable our attorneys to achieve work/life balance while fully contributing to serving our clients.

Recently, Zelle Hofmann's “Zealous Women” announced the launch of www.zealouswomen.com, a Web site focused on female attorneys and women in dispute resolution. The site’s goal is to provide a forum where all women who resolve disputes on a daily basis, in both their professional and personal lives, can celebrate their successes and consider the complexities of trying to find that work/life balance.

Zelle Hofmann also works with its clients to encourage diversity when practical. As an example, the firm successfully petitioned a San Francisco Superior Court administering a class action antitrust settlement to authorize the distribution of $40 million to more than 100 non-profit organizations in California, including the California Women's Law Center, Asian Law Caucus, Inc., and several California-based United Way organizations. This distribution was part of a $96 million settlement that was approved by the state court in San Francisco, California in 2008, and became final earlier this year.
