Judith Bevis Langevin to Present Webinar on Older Workers Benefit Protection Act

July 19, 2017

Judith Bevis Langevin, a partner in the Minneapolis office of Zelle, will present a webinar titled “OWBPA Training for HR Professionals and In-House Counsel.” The ComplianceOnline-hosted webinar will take place on Wednesday, July 19 at 1 p.m. Central. This webinar will detail the purpose and coverage of the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act (OWBPA). It will also highlight the penalties for failure to comply and offer practical pointers for compliance.

Every employer with more than 20 employees must comply with the OWBPA, which amended the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) in 1991. The requirements of the OWBPA are complex and not well understood, even by experienced in-house counsel and HR professionals - but failure to meet OWBPA requirements creates real legal risks. In-house counsel and human resources professionals who have the responsibility for individual or group terminations where severance or separation agreements are offered will benefit from the course. Outside counsel who provide advice to affected employers about terminations will also benefit.
